I saw this on Kims site http://glutenfreeislife.wordpress.com/ and thought this was a great idea.
So this is how it works: The first 3 people to leave a comment on this post will receive a healthy raw food treat from me during this year. When and what will be a surprise.
There’s a small catch… You knew there would be, didn’t you? Post this on your blog then come back and leave a comment, telling me you’re in. Fun, huh?
Remember, only the first 3 comments receive a gift. Give it a try!

Food Plan In Motion
So it sure has been a crazy week, trying to get my food plan in motion but I did it and it is working for me.I lost 5 pounds this week,YIPPEE
Now you have to understand I have tried every diet in the world: counting points, counting calories, fat grams, gluten free, cabbage soup, etc etc but the only thing that finally seems to click for me is my raw food lifestyle.
It is the easiest to follow ,just eat fresh fruits ,vegetables ,nuts and seeds.
However dealing with family and friends and even strangers while doing this .is another thing. Questions are always asked about what I eat and dont eat and why I eat it and where is my protein coming from...and the questions are not always with good intention,,people always seem to think they know whats best for you. I think that at 38 years old, well 39 in 1 1/2 months,I kind of know what I need to do and what is working for me. It really is the most natural of eating and I do feel so much better when eating this way. My asthma has gone away hopefully forever,my daily heartburn has stopped ,I was taking at least 6 tums a day, that is nuts but I was in such pain after I would eat anything that it was neccessary..but not anymore. I havent had a tums in months. so it definitely works for me and has given me so much more energy its insane.
and as for the protein questions:
The WHO (World Health Organization) says humans need about 5% of their daily calories to come from protein to be healthy. The USDA puts this figure at 6.5%. On average, fruits have about 5% of their calories from protein. Vegetables have from 20-50% of their calories from protein. Sprouted seeds, contain from 10-25% of their calories from protein. So if you are eating any variety of living plant foods, you are getting more than adequate protein. Numerous scientific studies have shown the daily need for protein to be about 25-35 grams per day. So if you ate 2,000 calories per day, and ate raw plant foods that had an average of 10% of their calories from protein, you would get 200 calories worth of protein, or 50 grams. This is more than adequate to support optimal well-being. Other studies have shown that heat treating a protein (such as with cooking) makes about half of it unusable to the human body. So raw plant food protein is even a better source than cooked plant foods or animal foods.
so yes,I do eat only uncooked living foods which means it is "fruits and shoots" and a small amount of nuts and seeds. I am a certified living on life foods chef and instructor and the foods I learned to create are amazing but mostly gourmet raw which means a higher fat content which is fine for someone transitioning to a raw foods diet from a SAD diet (standard american diet) but for the time being Im choosing to try and eat more of a simpler raw which is called 811rv.the rv stands for raw vegan, and no I dont eat raw fish, animals, dairy etc.
Doug Graham ,the author of the book 80/10/10 is amazing with lots of very interesting things to say,it sure is worth the read if you have the time.
Do I want everyone to stop eating their standard foods and go 100% raw with me,wow what a simpler world that would be,,but hey one step at a time..try one of my raw creations one day..you just might like it.
my next challenge will to be incorporating my eating raw with training for the marathon. It means I just have to incorporate more calories from the fruits to help supply the energy needed to train.
Im very excited about a few things today.
one my treadmill was finally delivered but man this box is HUGE ,and they just leave it outside, and wait for the assembly guys to move it in the house, well that is just crazy.
Tomorrow was the day for assembly but I called and the company was so sweet that they are sending the assembly guy out to my house tonight, woo hoo. so that is the second thing Im happy about.
The third is that I was just made a part of a training team on my favorite Disney board so I am now an official cousin of the 'Ohana team, where no one is left behind. Im really looking forward to getting to know my captains and fellow cousins. This next year of training will be an intense one but I know with their support I will accomplish anything and then will get to thank them all in person at the finish line in Jan 2010.
rah rah rah 'Ohana
Hope everyone is enjoying the day today like I am.
Tomorrow will be a full report on my using my very own treadmill!!!!

Exercise Plan In Motion
So to have a goal like a marathon in sight you need to get fit. How can I do that if I lead a mostly sedentary life...BUY A TREADMILL!!!
So I did and Im soooo excited that I will be able to hop on any time I want ..without having to face frigid temps outside and have a good workout.
and I swear this will not become the famous "clothing rack trap" that most exercise equipment becomes,it will get used..and often!
Now lets talk about how confusing buying a treadmill can be..how many ply belts..how much HP or CHP ..which I found out is the important kind "continous horse power" and what extras do I need or even want. A fan was an important key for me..I get hot so easily so with working out I really want to have even a slight cool breeze on my face . The best part..did you know that some treadmills come with tv's,YUP,how cool is that.I mean I can find peace in just facing my bedroom wall but how cool to be able to watch reruns of sigmund and the sea monsters or even Survivor as I work out,now thats cool...so yup my new treadmill has a 7 inch tv. I decided to go with the NordicTrack Elite 7500 and will give reviews once I get it..woo hoo
so for the next 2 weeks..my plans are to use the Leslie Sansone walk at home dvds and to burn calories by expending body heat on these cold cold January days!
So in about 2 weeks..I will have my amazing treadmill delivered and setup and then training can begin.

My weight loss ticker-follow my transformation

Welcome to the start of my journey--a long journey to find true health-but to have alot of fun getting there. As you can see by my weight loss ticker above-I have a long road ahead of me but in the end..one year from now....I will be walking (maybe even running) the Disneyworld half marathon-13 miles or now even questioning doing the whole 26 miles??!!!!..yup,you betcha..does that make me sound Gooofy, maybe just a little to those who know me...Im a couch potato in body form for sure..but Im an athlete in my mind and I think that is all that counts. The mind is stronger than the body and I WILL make it to the marathon and I WILL cross the finish line.
I invite all of you to join me as I train and prepare physically and emotionally for one of the hardest things I probably have ever done so far.
